2018 PPCK Parent-Infant Classes

PPCK Parent Infant Classes 1

Inspired by Magda Gerber’s Educaring® approach, the aim of PPCK Parent-Infant classes is for parents to learn about respectful parenting methods in a supportive and serene environment set up specifically to foster independent and authentic play for infants.

Empowering parents with the gift of being able to see the world through their children’s eyes sets them up to be strong, confident leaders who are able to support their children in a way that fosters the child’s confidence and security from the very beginning. In essence, attendance at PPCK classes can help to bring about a closer connection between the parent and child.

Through PPCK Parent-Infant classes parents will be guided to understand the importance of:

  • sensitive observation
  • slowing down interactions
  • two-way communication with babies
  • respectful caregiving practices
  • fostering independent play
  • supporting children through conflict
  • setting limits with respect

Classes are grouped roughly according to age but we look more closely at baby’s developmental stage to determine the best class for them.

Each class has a maximum of 8 infants with their parent/s and will run for 1.5 hours once a week.

PPCK Parent Infant Classes 2

Classes will run during school term time (approximately 10 week blocks) until the youngest child in the class turns two years old. It is not compulsory to attend classes for the entire duration, although it is highly recommended as these classes will support parents through the massive growth and the many stages of development a child goes through in their first two years of life.

The cost of the classes will be heavily reduced whilst I do my RIE Practicum training. There is an introductory special of $60 for the first term currently on offer. This will need to be paid before attendance at the second class. This cost includes a parent only, 1hr introductory session held prior to the first class.
